Hi all
I just have to tell you about a miracle that just happened. My sister
called me on Wed. to tell me that the people who now own the house we grew
up in, had cut down one of the trees my dad had planted - she didn't know
what kind, but it was big. Well, I went by and there on the ground was the
trunk - 6' long, 20" dia. - of the MAHOGANY tree. So, I decided that I
would go by today and if it was still there, see if I could cut off a couple
of chunks. When I pulled up today, there was a tree service there just
finishing cutting it up - when I asked if I could have some, they loaded 3
big pieces (12-14" thick, 20" across +/-, guaranteed to give ME a hernia) in
my truck. So I now have enough to turn bowls and/or peppermills for all of
my parents' kids and grandkids -I just have to cut it into smaller blanks
and seal. Isn't God wonderful?

Amen to that one Tom. One of the guys at the church ws standing by his
firewood pile talking to a friend who mentioned the wood was really dry and
picked off a piece of bark. Underneath was bird's eye. So I now have a 12
log of bird's eye maple at home in somewhat shorter pieces. There are cracks
but I can cut around them. The log went from about 8" to 6".
