Hello all,
Over the past few months, my bought new, 10 year old CAL Delta has
acquired a quick with the Drawer, in that once opened, it closes on its
own accord, and has a mind of its own.
I had purchased a new Belt for the Drawer about 3 weeks ago, and before
installing the new Belt, did clean both Pulleys with 91% Alcohol. Also
libed all Glides on the Drawer with a light viscosity Damping grease,
and blwe out the entire unit with canned air.
It worked much better, but only for a short while.
It is now back to its antics again.
I'm now of the belief that it may be some sort of switch, or the
electronics that the switch runs to, but am not 100% sure of this.
I would assume the CAL Delta used some sort of standardized transport
Mechanism/Sled, and perhaps this Sled Mechanism could be cross
referenced? Can anyone help with advice?
Thank you, Mark |

Mark,
I don't know your unit specifically, but many CD transports use either
leaf switches or micro switches. The most common uses for them in no
specific order are:
Drawer open
Drawer Closed
Laser Home (at beginning of disc)
Leaf switches can often be VERY CAREFULLY taken apart and cleaned with
rubbing alcohol, as the tiny contact area is often silver plated and can
oxidize. I avoid sprays in them.
Micro switches usually don't clean worth a d*** and must be replaced.
Again, I don't know what the mechanism in your machine uses. Since the
replacing of the belt helped for a short while, I look for drawer
switches first.
