|
|
Hi:
I obtained a new C325BEE from a SF, CA dealer Saturday. It seems to
play Ok, but gets way hotter than I expected, even just idling. In fact
that's all it's really done since I can only play at low volume.
It even stays hot with the front panel power button off. There is a
main power rocker switch in the back which kills it completely. The amp
appears to conduct quiescent current when off (front panel off), though
slightly less than when on.
I measured 47C (117 degrees F) when off and 51.5C (125 degrees F) when
on, at the surface of the top cover centered over the internal power
transistor heatsinks.
Perhaps this is normal for this amp, but I don't like it much. I've had
a Kyocera A-710 100W/ch amplifier for many years, and it barely gets
warm at all when doing nothing.
Is this normal for the NAD C325BEE?
I'm afraid the bias wasn't set correctly in the factory :-( But I need
to see what others who have it say.
Thanks for comments.
Good day!
