I meant to post this when I got the rose- but better late than never.
I've dealt with a few plant retailers in my life, but I've never
gotten a live, potted plant in such pristine shape.
I hesitated when they said $15 shipping on my single, gallon size
plant, but it might have been the last Frances Dubreuil available this
year so I went for it. It traveled from South Carolina to NY and
arrived as if I'd just picked it up at the nursery down the street.
Credit to where it is due-- thanks folks

Hi Jim
Have you given it to your mum yet, for her 80th?? It's amazing the
lengths we'll go to, to get that "just right" present for them. What a
lovely son you are to go to that trouble and the extra expense. But
mums are worth it aren't they.LOL. You must have been meant to get it
for her! I'm glad it worked out well for you.
Best Wishes
Elsie

Yes- she got it June 18. She loved it. Had never heard of
Dubreuil though she has gardened most of her life.
It had just the hint of a bud- no swelling, but some reddish leaves
when she got it. Got a call last night that the rose had opened and
is now adorning their kitchen table. Darker and fuller than they
had expected from the picture.
Dad gets to do the 'heavy work' so he's preparing to take it in for
the winter. It *is* an own-root plant, though, so he's going to take
a cutting and leave it outside to see if it is really zone 4 or zone
7.
