A dear friend has just lost her granddaughter to cancer - 18 months old
- and her name was Courtney - I want to find a rose named Courtney for
her to plant in her yard. I joined this group to be able to ask this
one question - can anyone direct me or help me?
regards and thanks.
Shelley from Canada.

I'm sorry for you loss. Planting a rose or other
shrub or tree as a memorial for a friend or family
member is a lovely idea.

Go to www.helpmefind.com
and you will find three roses, one miniature
named Courtney, two shrub roses with
Courtney as the first name.

Another source is www.everyrose.com
but they only list the miniature helpmefind
lists.

The bad news is that helpmefind doesn't list
any sources, but you can check nurseries and
major Canadian rose sellers to see if you can
find one of these roses.
Google "rose grower canada"
It took awhile to figure out the correct
set of words to get the result!
Canadian rose sellers listed include:
Hortico http://www.hortico.com/ and
Pickering
http://www.pickeringnurseries.com/tw/Web_store/web_store.cgihttp://www.pickeringnurseries.com/tw/Web_store/web_store.cgi

Alternatively, you might contact local garden
clubs and/or botanic gardens. If anyone
has one of the Courtney roses, they might be
willing to give you a cutting.

If all that fails, what about planting a rose in
your friend's favorite color(s), or perhaps
some color that would be suitable for a child?
Roses come in almost all colors except
black and a true blue.

Let us know how you fare.

Thanks for posting. I'm glad you had a chance
to visit San Antonio. It is quite the vacation
destination, even for Texans!
