I wanted to trim some of my roses back because I have some time to do it now
and I would do the rest gradually. I have over a hundred roses. If I prune my
roses this early, should I prune them back again in February, when I usually do
it? Does early pruning affect the roses in any way? I live in Southern
California.

Supposedly it is best to wait until the plants are dormant before pruning
them. However, when I lived In Arkansas, they never seemed to go dormant.
I waited until it got as cold as it was expected to, and then started my
pruning.

Roses might be more forgiving. I also have transplanted them in June and
transplanted them in July. I only lost one or two.
