I am about to purchase a 19 inch bandsaw and I want to cut bowl blank and
some resaw without changing blades. What would be the best blade for me to
pruchase with the new saw.

I have found that a 1/2" 3 tpi hook blade works best in my 18" Jet for
resawing. It also works fine for bowl blanks as well, provided the blanks
are not small (tight radius). -Dave

I'll second that--have a similar blade (from Lenox) on my 20" saw most
of the time.

I use nothing but 3/8" 4tpi hook tooth blades. I find 1/2" doesn't "steer" very well around curves unless you make several relief
cuts.

A 1/2 3TPI lives on my saw. Cuts fine to 7", and below that, who needs
circularity to start with? Beam strength and control within the guides
override any benefit in radius from a smaller blade.
I have an experimental Olson blade on my 14 right now, and it will be back
to the double his price Suffolk when he can no longer cut it. Thinner, no
beam strength, little set on the teeth to help clear wood mush, though the
tooth pattern is less grabby than the hook on a Suffolk.

Hello Harry,
I have an 18" bandsaw and only use 1/2" blades on it. For cutting bowl blanks
and wet wood, I've found that the Timberwolf Blades (I believe I'm using 3 or 4
tpi blades now) are the best available. For finer cutting a less harsh blade is
required. For that I use a 10 tpi blade, but it is no good for cutting large
chunks and wet wood. The 10 tpi blade does a nice job at cutting segments for
segmented turning.
